Reading on the Hardwood

The Osage Co. R-I Library once served the purpose as the school gymnasium.  The space was converted to the library once a new gymnasium was constructed in 1969.  Hardwood floors that once provided the surface for countless basketball memories, have remained in the district library.  Faded lines marking the out of bounds area, free throw area, and center court remained visible for decades since the last games were played on that court.  The very same hardwood floors were refinished during the summer of 2018.  The floors were sanded, refinished, and some of the original basketball court lines were reapplied.  Local artist Fred Schollmeyer painted a basketball theme at one end and reading mural on the stage.  We encourage you to come visit the library and view the improvements.
