2023-24 School Calendar 4 Day Week Information
The Osage Co. R-I School Board approved a four day week calendar for the 2023-24 school year at the March 8th board meeting. This was a decision the board spent much time contemplating in recognition of the impact this change will have on our district’s students, families, and staff members.

The primary goal of moving forward with a four day calendar is to enhance the district’s ability to attract and retain high quality staff members for our students. The number one variable in student learning is the teacher, and the board wants to help ensure that our students have the best instructional staff members possible. Our district’s successes can be attributed to the quality and dedication of our staff and the support of the Osage Co. R-I community. The amount of time and effort put into this calendar process reflects the ongoing investment in our students and staff.
We appreciate all those who participated by responding to surveys and the advice offered through those responses. In addition, I am grateful for our staff members who provided valuable input, and will continue to provide valuable input as we continue to work on the details. I also would like to take this opportunity to thank the Osage Co. R-I Board of Education for their hard work in analyzing this issue and their continuous support of our school staff. With the adoption of this four day school week calendar, the district will now turn its attention toward implementation. There will be many details for our administrators and staff to analyze and discuss through the remainder of the current school year. As such, the district will be sure to communicate needed information to families as decisions are made.
